The Do’s and Dont’s

As locals, we love sharing our paradise with visitors, but there are a few things you should know to ensure you have a fantastic and safe trip. Here are some do’s and don’ts from a local’s perspective to help you make the most of your time in Jupiter.

DO: WEAR REEF-SAFE SUNSCREEN Protecting our ocean, reefs, and marine life is crucial. Opt for reef-safe sunscreen that doesn’t contain harmful chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate. Not only will you help preserve our beautiful coral reefs, but you’ll also enjoy a guilt-free swim in our crystal-clear waters. (Click here to see some reef-safe brands)

DON’T: MESS WITH THE GATORS You might see signs around swampy areas warning you not to touch or feed alligators. Believe it or not, many tourists ignore these warnings and end up getting hurt. Trust us, it’s not worth the risk. When visiting places like the Loxahatchee River or Jonathan Dickinson State Park, keep a respectful distance from alligators and other animals.

DO: RENT A CAR OR BIKE Jupiter isn’t the most walkable town, so renting a car is a great idea to explore all it has to offer. If a car isn’t an option, consider renting a bike. It’s a fun and eco-friendly way to ride around the beach and even to your accommodation. Plus, you’ll get some exercise while soaking up the sun!

DON’T: BE A BAD DRIVER Jupiter’s roads can get busy, especially with the influx of snowbirds and tourists. Drive cautiously and be mindful of local traffic rules. Patience goes a long way, and it helps everyone stay safe. And please, avoid aggressive driving – we already have enough of that from our seasonal visitors!

DO: EXPLORE OFF THE BEATEN PATH While popular spots like Guanabanas and Juno Beach Pier can be fun, don’t miss out on Jupiter’s hidden gems. Discover local favorites like Blowing Rocks Preserve for breathtaking views, or Kate’s Bridge for some snorkeling. Check out Riverbend Park for some beautiful trails and kayaking. You’ll get a true taste of what makes Jupiter special.

DON’T: LEAVE TRASH BEHIND Our beaches and parks are pristine, and we’d love to keep them that way. Always dispose of your trash properly and consider participating in local beach cleanups if you have the time. A little effort goes a long way in keeping Jupiter beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

DO: RESPECT THE LOCALS Lastly, remember that Jupiter is not just a tourist destination – it’s home to many people. Be courteous and respectful to locals, whether you’re at a restaurant, a beach, or just exploring the town. A friendly attitude and good manners go a long way in making your visit pleasant for everyone.

By following these do’s and don’ts, you’ll have a fantastic time in Jupiter while helping to preserve its natural beauty and charm. Enjoy your stay, and we hope you fall in love with our little slice of paradise just as much as we have!
